End of Year Program Awards

Junior Varsity

Coaches' Award - Gavin Macdonald

A captain on our JV team and first year volleyball player, Gavin worked hard and was one of our most consistent servers. We appreciated how focused Gavin was during practices and games. He stayed positive and was a great listener. Gavin also plays for the Mariner football program.

Most Improved - Marco Garcia

Marco captained our JV team and came into the season with some volleyball experience. He took responsibility for himself and for his team, recruiting friends in the preseason and working hard to get better in the regular season. Marco also plays for the Mariner football program.

Rookie of the Year - Cameron Aruiza

A football, track, and volleyball athlete, Cameron is one of the most athletic players in the program. Cam is the first to hit the floor for a ball and will run into walls, chairs, and humans to keep the ball alive. He has a 30" vertical and no doubt will keep improving on his skills as he returns for his sophomore year next season.

Varsity

Coaches' Award - Matteo Villegas

If you're on the court, you give it. If you're on the bench, you support it. Matteo brought enthusiasm to every single game in support of his teammates. With very little volleyball experience, his jumping ability and value as a role player earned him a spot on our varsity roster. Matteo consistently shows up early to practice and puts in the work to improve his skills.

Defensive Player of the Year - Mander Miller

A returning Varsity libero, Mander was the glue that held our team together. His signature "we love this game!" cheer can be heard following huge Mariner rallies. Mander is also on the Varsity football team. His leadership on the court in addition to his digging and serve receive earn him this award. Mander will return next year as a senior in the program.

Offensive Player of the Year - Roberto Munoz

Lethal from the service line, this years' ace and block leader contributed in our point scoring like no other. Starting off the season as a setter/rightside in our 6-2, Roberto ended the season as a true rightside and earned second team all SCCAL honors through his offensive abilities. Roberto is headed to Hartnell to further his education in Business.

Most Valuable Player - Jackson Miller

A returning Varsity player and this years' captain of the team, Jackson Miller was one of the most impressive outside hitters to watch this season. Undersized in the world of men's volleyball, Jackson worked hard to get around, through, and over the blocks of opposing teams. He was our kill leader, and contributed in the serve, block, and receive categories as well. He brought experience and leadership to this years' roster. Jackson will be headed to Chico State to walk on, or participate in the school's club program.
