Fundraising

We had a strong fundraising campaign where we raised over $11,000. We purchased a new set of jerseys, practice shirts, and are putting money aside for a new pole system. All money donated goes towards our program and helps us pay for tournament fees and new equipment.

End of Year Program Awards

Frosh

Most Improved - Naomi Fazo

Naomi started this season with little volleyball experience. She tried out as an eighth grader but didn't make the team. Undeterred, from the moment she stepped in the gym it was clear she would use every opportunity to get better. She ended the season as one of the most consistent players on her team, and the person we wanted at the service line.

Leadership Award - Carina Kessler

As a freshman captain, Carina brought a positive attitude to every practice and game. She rallies her teammates when she's on the court and cheers for them when she's on the bench. Being the first frosh player to learn her rotations, she was able to help out others who needed it with patience and kindness.

Coaches' Award - Isabella Magana

A starting setter and captain on the team, Isabella led the team with service pressure, offensive decision making, and enthusiasm for the game. Isabella also made the Varsity cheer team as a freshman and her leadership on the court was a tremendous help.

Junior Varsity

Coaches' Award - Ursula Ontiveros

Ursula was a starting setter on the team, choosing to arrive at practice early almost every day to set up the hoops and work on her setting skills. She was an excellent server and defender in addition to running the team's offense. The coaches applaud her dedication for improvement.

Kenzie Smith - Rookie of the Year

As a starting middle blocker on JV, Kenzie brought enthusiasm, work ethic, and clutch kills to every occasion. A highlight of Kenzie's season was her game winning kill against Harbor in the third set in front of a packed house. She was pulled up to the Varsity level for the postseason and made contributions as the only freshman on the team.

Chloe Luis - Leadership Award

Coming in as a sophomore libero in her second year on JV, Chloe captained her team to an 16-6 season record. She works incredibly hard, supports teammates who need it, and loves the game. She was also pulled up to the Varsity team for the postseason.

Varsity

Coaches' Award - Brooke Edwards

Leadership comes in all forms, not only does Brooke lead herself well but she inspires those around her with her joy for life and love for her friends. Brooke brings positive energy to every practice and is a player that younger athletes look up to. During our CCS run she stepped up as a setter despite never having set before and ran our offense with courage and determination.

Defensive Player of the Year - Peyton Westjohn

A varsity soccer and volleyball athlete, Peyton led our team with 155 digs in the backrow, and also recorded 37 aces and 80 kills. She brings stellar ball control, lightning-quick defensive moves, and a deadly float serve. Peyton will return as a senior for the 2023 Fall season.

Offensive Player of the Year - Jordyn Waite-Ward

Jordyn will go down in history as one of the best Mariner middle blockers to represent our program. A four-year Varsity player, Jordyn led our team with 25 aces, 130 kills, and 36 blocks in her senior season after missing the 2021 season due to a torn ACL. She brings intensity, joy, and experience to our practices and as a captain inspires her teammates to be their best selves. Jordyn is headed to Sonoma State to play at the college level.
