What are the most important technical skills in volleyball?
Platform passing helps with receiving serves, defending, and is the most utilized method of contacting the ball.
Serving is important at all levels. Beginners might work on making serves consistently, while advanced players work on the speed and placement of their serve. Developing a serve routine that involves taking a breath, picking a spot, and making a good toss sets you up for success at the service line.
What are the most important mental skills in volleyball?
Decision making. Games are won by making good choices over time. We will spend time learning and executing good decisions.
Reading opponents (and sometimes teammates) allows you to predict where the ball will go next. Good eye work and game sense can keep you a step ahead of your competition.
Resetting after each play and moving forward into the next point is vital to success on the court. Each interaction results in a point for either team. Stay focused on what's ahead and don't get caught dwelling on the last play.
